Sarah Palin’s 17-year old daughter is pregnant. Great. Now the world knows. And of course that was bound to happen because of the spotlight that the family is in being unknown until McCain’s Friday announcement.
But at the end of the day it’s not going to make a difference. Sure a few people will probably think poorly of the Palins which is sad. Things like this happen every day to people from all walks of life. It’s not a big deal. And sure Sarah Palin stands for strong family values but this is NOT a news story. It is a private family matter and I honestly don’t care. Yeah, it’s the most exciting thing that has happened to the McCain campaign in what seems like forever (well before the Palin announcement). His campaign has been a little dull-nothing new has happened for weeks. So I’m sure that everyone was looking for a bite but really? How about we focus on the hurricane (which got significant coverage) or the issues of the campaign and NOT the personal life of the candidates.
Yes it plays to the character of the candidate but at the end of the day it is not Sarah Palin’s choice for her daughter to be pregnant. I’m sure that she didn’t tell her to go have sex and get pregnant-especially at age 17 and in the middle of the campaign. At the end of the day the Palin family will make decisions that work for them and not America which I think is reasonable for all of us to accept. I hope that we can focus on more important things…unless the Republican convention is beyond boring then I expect to see more of this nonsense.
