The NY Times took a look at how people are planning on boycotting Arizona because of the recent immigration law. Read their article, In Wake of Immigration Law, Calls for an Economic Boycott of Arizona

I agree. The economy is going to suffer, people will be afraid to report crimes because they will worry that the cops will question their legality. So, the crime will stay the same, if not go up. There are other ways to address illegal immigration than targeting groups of people, and in Arizona that means Hispanics. I can’t wait to vote in November (yes, I’m still registered-I don’t count my dorm/residence hall at NYU as a permanent address-and will stay registered until after this extremely important election) to send a message that not all Arizonans agree. It’s sad that this is happening in my home state, where illegal immigration has been an issue for years because of our location. I hope that the federal government takes note and acts quickly to reform immigration law and address illegal immigration.

Semi-related: I can’t move home, there really won’t be jobs now (thanks Rep. Pearce, the state legislature and Governor Brewer), so someone please hire me (in any city really, but NYC preferred)! Want to know more about me? Check out my writing samples and clips or send me a message and I will send you my resume (I’m working on putting it online).

(Side note: I’m not a big fan of shameless self-promotion on this level, but graduation is a few weeks away and I would love to have a real job sooner rather than later. I’m looking for jobs specifically in publishing or marketing where I can utilize my writing, editing, web and social media skills. My main interest is women’s lifestyle but I am familiar with politics, history and Italy. I also love travel and food writing. Basically, I’m a jack of all trades. I’m a whiz at general administrative tasks, can troubleshoot copy machines/printers, am a quick learner, organized, motivated and am all about customer service. Sorry again for the shameless self promotion-but just putting it out there.)
