Wednesday was James and my 28 month anniversary (woo hoo) but it came and went with little fanfare. I remembered it was the 7th partway through the day and texted him “Happy Anniversary!” That night we talked about it a bit on the phone, but that was that.
I remember when we first started dating that every month was special. Maybe it was because we were still together despite the distance and it was all so fresh and new. After our 1st year each month wasn’t as “special,” for lack of a better word. I wasn’t sending him a card or a cute email. The months that mattered were 18 months and 2 years. Sure we would say “Happy Anniversary” on the 7th if we remembered but it wasn’t a big deal if we forgot.
I’m curious what your thoughts are. Should you celebrate every month or does it fade as you’re together longer?
Honestly, I’m happy just celebrating the big ones at this point, because *warning: upcoming cheesy statement* I’m so glad that he’s in my life everyday (especially this week when I’m going CRAZY over these papers), so I just tell him that whenever-I don’t need to do it on an appointed day each month. I love celebrating us all the time, but yes, the big Anniversary dates do matter to me too.
