It is with a heavy heart that I write this post. As most of you know James is graduating from West Point this semester which means that soon he will be an officer in the Army, so after our wedding in June, I will be an Army Wife, going with James wherever he will be stationed. This means one major thing: Goodbye New York City.
So here’s the plan: We are actually returning to Arizona (but 3 hours south of Phoenix) for 4 months and then are off to the great state of Washington, near Olympia and Tacoma, about 1 hour from Seattle. I’m excited to move around and see the world. It’s bittersweet to leave NYC but being with James is going to be wonderful. And after almost 5 years in the city, I’m ready for some suburbia. I’m fortunate that I have a career where I can work/write anywhere in the world and I don’t know exactly what the future holds but I will be with the person that I love the most.
So in my last few months here in the city I am going to take advantage of all the city has to offer, and that I haven’t done yet. Here is my list, let me know what I am missing and other places I should go to! Also, if there is anything you want to do with me, by all means let me know.
- Go to an opera at the Met
- See the NYC Ballet perform
- Visit the Whitney Museum
- Ride bikes and picnic on Governor’s Island
- See a Movie in a Park
- Go to Ellis Island
- Go to the Top of the Rock
- Visit the Brooklyn Museum
- See Wicked
- Go to the Wax Museum
- Ride the Roosevelt Island Tram
- Skate in Bryant Park
- Visit the Brooklyn Botanical Garden
- Go to the New Museum
- Minetta Tavern
- Greek food in Astoria
- Dim sum at some epic dim sum place
- Obviously this list needs more restaurants–tell me your favorites!
And for my friends: you better visit me in Washington! And if anyone has some contacts/friends out there let me know. It’s been real NYC and I can’t wait to really do it up these next, last, few months.
