I’ve been following Taim Mobile on twitter for awhile but had yet to try it despite reading rave reviews, including its recent naming of Best Food Truck by NY Mag. I decided it was time to finally try it when it was at Bryant Park this past week. I needed a change in my lunch routine and something vegetarian. The truck only serves vegetarian meals and smoothies. I opted for the falafel sandwich with amba, a pickled mango chutney, and pickles on white pita.

I really enjoyed this sandwich. I’m not sure why I added pickles, since I don’t like them all that much, but they added a nice crunch. I really liked the falafel balls. They are green falafel balls, not sure exactly what makes it so green, I’m guessing some parsley and cilantro at least. The delicious hummus was at the bottom of the pita so when I ran out of the tasty filling and falafel balls I had a tasty pita and hummus ending. The toppings added a nice crunchiness to the sandwich and the pita was perfectly soft and fluffy. They also have wheat pita if you want to be slightly more health-conscious.

I have yet to try the sides, but they have fries, pickles, pita and hummus. The hummus was really tasty, so I suggest that if you’re looking for a great snack. Also on the menu: smoothies. It was a bit too cold but the options sound delicious: Strawberry-Raspberry-Thai Basil and Pear-Mint-Lemon. Yummmy!

They also feature special falafels every week, last week was Tomato, Thai-Basil. Next time I go, I may just try the special. I’ll be going back, that is for sure. If you see a long line, don’t fret, it moves pretty quickly. I’d say it took me about 20 minutes total (waiting in line was about 15 minutes). It is definitely worth the wait.
