Last week James had to spend a few nights away from home for work, so I was forced to live on my own in our apartment. After years of doing long distance this seems like a simple concept, but after being together everyday since our wedding at the end of June, it was tough for me to not have evenings with him, or to snuggle up to at night when the A/C is blasting a bit too much. But at the end of the day it really wasn’t as hard as it seemed. So what did I do?
The daytime was pretty normal for me since I work from home. The first night I cooked dinner and had leftovers for the rest of the week. One day I went over to a friend’s house to make jewelry and have lunch. That was fun, and a great excuse to get out of the house. I ran errands, since I had the car (woo hoo!) and went to dinner with some other girls down here one night. I also watched far too much TV for my own good. I did watch the documentary The Kennedys, the one that was supposed to be on Showtime I believe, then got pulled and ended up on some network I had never heard of. It was pretty good, although I can see how people had issues with it and it could cause controversy with its take on the relationships between the family members. I also had dinner with some other girls that knew James from school, went to the doctor, fun stuff like that.
Things I should have done: written thank you notes, studied more for the GRE, worked out and gone to bed earlier. But I learned some things: I can survive on my own for awhile, sometimes it’s nice to be apart because you appreciate their company more, I really should go to bed earlier and I have some fun friends around here! At the end of the day though it’s nice to have the hubby back. I love spending time with him, going on date nights and lounging around the apartment reading/studying/etc. So, end of the day: I survived!
Some fun things to look forward to in the blog: I have my wedding photos! But those will come post-honeymoon. Some tasty food. Fun trips around Southern AZ. So, stay tuned!
