This weekend I went to the 110th Army-Navy Game in Philadelphia and had a blast! The time honored tradition celebrates the rivalry and service that all of the cadets, midshipmen and alumni have given or will be giving to our country. It was great fun-although very tiring and cold!
I arrived early for the March On. All of the students from each school march onto the field in formation and demonstrate moving in unison (saluting, waving hats and cheering). I was excited partly because my boyfriend’s name was announced to the whole stadium because of his rank in his regiment, needless to say I am very proud of him! Anyway, it was very impressive to see 4,000 cadets (and midshipmen) march out together. Army was a bit better at marching and walking in straight lines, but then again I am biased (see boyfriend-West Point cadet). The final result was just awesome looking:
The game was pretty good. Army lost, but they put up a great fight in the first half of the game. The second half the Army team was tired/made some mistakes and Navy just ran away with the game, for the 8th year in a row. I had a great view of the game-upper section, 3 rows from the top-but as the sun moved over me it got way colder. The hand and feet warmers that I had (thanks to the bf) helped but boy was it cold and windy! Overall it was a great day though for football! Next year I’m bringing some blankets and maybe a different hat and drinking more hot drinks. The singing of the Alma Mater at the end of the game is really great-although sad for the losing team.
I hope to go again next year, and hopefully Army’s team will be even better-at least they scored this time!
